My love of animals started from a young age with my childhood dog, a hyper and loving staffordshire bull terrier named Dana who soon became my best friend. Staffies are usually great with children; providing you’re a tough kid that can handle a bit of exited doggy play! With their smiling faces and loving nature, Staffies will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up with horses taught me the responsibility that comes with having a four-legged friend in your life. I spent my teen years competing all across England and Wales on Welsh horses which involved early mornings, hard work, some pristine grooming routines and of course a heap of mucking out! I learnt the rewards that come from caring for animals early on and cannot express my gratitude enough for the wonderful experiences I have had that have moulded the person I am today.

After leaving college I knew I was destined to work with animals so I began my venture working for a local exotic pet shop where I expanded my knowledge of reptiles, fish, birds, bugs and other interesting creatures!
I have always been passionate about dogs, which is why, when an opportunity to work for Pets at home arose I had to take it. I knew this was a company that offered extensive training, support and experience with dogs, cats, fish and small furries and I was intrigued about their opportunities in The Groom Room.
I completed my training in Dog and cat nutrition, Canine first aid, Dog behaviour and microchipping as well as lots of other additional courses before beginning my training to become a groomer! From my first day in the salon I knew this was where I needed to be and where I wanted to excel.
Dog grooming isn’t all puppy cuddles and play time which means it isn’t for everyone, but I soon felt the extreme rewards from transforming peoples beloved pets from muddy mutt to pampered pups!
In 2020 I came across an opportunity that was too good to pass up. I opened my own salon, Bell’s&Bristles inside https://aquadogsbury.co.uk/ where I get to learn from and enjoy watching Stacey Edwards work her magic in the pool in between grooms! We make a fantastic team as we both share the same love of animals and passion to help them.
I wanted to create a more personal experience for dogs when they visit me. This is why I never have more than one dog in the salon at one time (unless they’re from the same family!). Every dog is unique and should be treated as such, which is why I groom one to one where I can assess their likes, dislikes and how to overcome them and make them feel special and pampered.
Being a dog groomer means more than just clipping nails and giving pups a fresh look; you form a deep bond with each dog and learn about their own personality and needs. I personally enjoy working with anxious dogs and seeing their progress from groom to groom as they adjust to the process and become more relaxed with me.
Having a pomeranian myself I have fallen in love with styling the perfect round bum! I also enjoy doing traditional grooms on shnauzers and working with long curly coats like poodles and bichons that give me the opportunity to be really creative with their styling.
